Judy Heumann has left us.
The worldwide Independent Living and Disability Rights Movement has lost its most outspoken, powerful, and tireless spokesperson. Judy Heumann passed away on March 4, aged 75.

DRD conducted a survey on remedies in cooperation with the project Article 19 as a tool. The survey was carried out with the aim to gain an overview of the topic of remedies, to see where and what law systems in general are lacking or which remedies can be transferred from one country to another for better effectiveness in using the law as a tool for social change and individual justice. The following report sumarizes the results of the survey and provides an overview of some legal remedies to enable interested readers to learn from other countries' experiences as well as to gain knowledge about other types of remedies which might be more effective for ensuring protection and enforcement of rights.

In cooperation with the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL), DRD held a webinar on ‘Legal Clinics - a tool to promote disability rights’ on the 26th of May 2020. This report summarizes the webinar. A recording of the webinar can be watched with subtitles on youtube.
ILI and the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL) held a webinar to introduce the work of the Disability Rights Defenders Network. The webinar took place on 20 May 2019. This report summarizes the webinar shortly.
Independent Living Institute är remissinstans till betänkandet (SOU:2014:9).
I utredningen föreslås att nuvarande timschablon för ersättningen för personlig assistans görs om till en grundschablon per timme med i huvudsak samma innehåll som idag men med kraftigt reducerat belopp. Grundschablonen föreslås också täcka kostnader vid ordinarie assistents sjukfrånvaro som hittills bekostades av kommunerna. Utredningen föreslår också en tilläggsschablon som ska kunna beviljas assistansberättigade som har särskilt stort behov av assistans på nätter och helger och som inte fyllt 65 år.

Förstudien Med lagen som verktyg, som finansierades av Arvsfonden, konstaterade att människor med funktionsnedsättningar och deras organisationer borde ha bättre juridisk beredskap för att kunna bemöta den diskriminering som personer med funktionsnedsättningar utsätts för.
Det planerade projektet ska vara med och förbättra funktionsnedsatta människors livsvillkor genom att motarbeta negativ särbehandling med lagen som verktyg. Projektet ska
